Definition of Free Radicals

We all have cells with electrons. On my course, we are going to view these electrons as people. When these electron people are in love with someone and part of a team, they are stable. When one member of the pair falls in love with somebody else and runs off, then the other person is alone and they become very unstable….they need some loving. These electron people must always be in pairs in order to be stable.

This unstable person that is desperately in need of love and a partner will do anything to get some, and they are called a free radical. All of their cave man instincts come alive. If they happen to find someone else who is single, then they become stable again. Unfortunately in this world, they normally meet someone who has a partner, and steal them away, damaging another relationship, or in this case a cell. They may also damage other parts of the cell such as the DNA or the cell membrane. All of this leads to aging and disease.

Now, sometimes relationships are unhealthy, and should come to an end. That is why free radicals are not always bad guys. Sometimes they break up relationships that are disease ridden. We do actually need free radicals to survive.

In fact, free radicals don’t just come from toxins; they come from breathing in air. Even exercise causes free radicals. There is nothing wrong with being single…we just need to calm them so that their animal instincts don’t take over and they go around killing other healthy relationships or cells…causing a lot of pain (and serious aging and disease.)

Antioxidants

Enter Natural antioxidant supplements and foods. Antioxidants calm and stabilize our lone free radicals until they find a match with another single electron. (They might suggest yoga to soothe the inner caveman. They recommend online dating services to provide a peaceful forum for choosing another single partner. They may provide toys to fulfill their animal needs in the meantime.) They are what keep our cells from being damaged by free radicals and causing more free radicals.

Alright, so my metaphor is a bit tenuous, but hopefully it will give you an idea of how free radicals and antioxidants work. It is all about the electrons in our cells being in pairs, and when they are not, because of other free radicals, they need antioxidants to stabilize them and help them pair up with another unpaired electron.

Antioxidant are without question one of the most essential antiaging ingredients for preventing disease. And they come in the form of fruit, vegetables, vitamins, teas, healthy smoothie recipes and anti aging natural skin care products. Super foods are the foods that are most potent with natural antioxidants supplements.
