3 Keys to Staying Motivated

While productivity isn’t essential to our health, people that feel productive often feel more satisfied in their life, which has a positive affect on our wellbeing.  Achieving your dreams can take some time and hard work.

As someone that is self employed and has had to put in a lot of effort to get to where I am, I realise that I have become quite a productive person.  I read on websites and hear stories of people that have trouble getting motivated.  I wasn’t born productive, in fact I was fairly lazy as a child.  Somehow, I have developed the skills to get things done.

Here are my Three Keys to Staying Motivated and Productive:

  1. Have a vision of what you want.  For me, I have wanted to be a freelance, natural health and wellbeing writer.  This isn’t a job that just happens out of the blue.  It takes a lot of hard work.  Yet my vision of working from home, writing about subjects that deeply interest me has kept me going.  I have a clear goal, and even when things haven’t worked out as planned, I continue striving for what I want.  I have written down what I want on paper, on my computer, and said it out loud on many occasions.
  2. Know why you want it. If you don’t know why you want do achieve something, chances are you won’t.  I know that my passions are writing and natural health and self help, and I know that doing anything else in life will feel unfulfilling.  Therefore, I have always known that I must make this happen.

I also know that I want the freedom to travel and visit my friends and family, and still be able to work.  For me this is an absolute must, and it keeps me constantly motivated to ensure my success. I do not have it in me to work for a company and have two weeks off per year.

  1. Always keep hopeful.  Losing hope is a sure fire way to lose motivation.  There is always a way to make things happen.  I have been turned down for more jobs than I can count.  I have tried to implement so many ideas that haven’t worked out.  However, somehow I have always known that something better lies around the corner.  Somehow, I always believe I will get jobs and things will work out…and they have!

I believe these three keys are the root of success and productivity. They have made a tremendous difference in my life, and I can see that most productive, highly motivated people have a very similar roadmap.
